Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience?

No experience is necessary as we offer full, extensive training throughout your career. If you have previous recruitment experience, or have spent time working in sales, retail, customer service or similar that will be advantageous. If not, don’t worry, we primarily look for consultants who are enthusiastic, motivated and confident.

If you’ve worked a lot in recruitment before, there’s no need to start as a trainee again. We look for experienced recruiters to join us at higher levels as well or to be put into fast-track progression.

What qualifications do I need?

Likewise with previous experience, we don’t look for any particular qualifications. Relevant qualifications will be beneficial but don’t worry if you don’t have any. We employ plenty of university graduates as well as sixth-form leavers and offer the same training to all new recruits.

What makes a good recruitment consultant?

While recruitment is lucrative and rewarding, it can be tough. We look for eager employees who are confident and willing to put in the hard work for their rewards.

If you’re motivated by money and incentives, that’s perfect – you’re in the right line of work. At the same time, we work with lots of different candidates and clients every day, so we like people with excellent communication skills who can form great professional relationships.

We have good career progression opportunities at IT Talent, with employees generally being promoted from within. If you stick with it and put in the hard work, you could be in a management position before you know it!

What is the job like?

Aside from the remuneration and commission you’ll earn, recruitment can be very rewarding. You’ll develop professional relationships with clients and candidates and placing a great candidate into a job they’ll love is a brilliant feeling. The office is sociable and tight-knit – we go out for drinks at the end of the month and are all good friends.

We’re not going to lie, it can be difficult at times and is not for the faint of heart. Although our core hours are 9am-5:30pm, these can commonly stretch earlier or later. The more time and effort you put in, the more you’ll earn, so our top consultants are happy to stay until their job is done.

How does commission work and how much could I expect to earn?

You can find more information about how our commission structure works further up in this page. Your commission will build as you build your market, so don’t expect to be earning the big bucks straight away – you’ll need to build up to it. However, you’ll be working with a senior consultant throughout your training and will have the opportunity to earn resourcer commission from day one.

Average first year earnings are £40,000 with second and third year earnings commonly reaching £75,000 and £100,000+ respectively. Our top billers commonly take home £10,000+ a month.

How do I get access to the incentives and benefits?

Our benefits are available dependant on your position and your time with the company.

Incentives are awarded to the high achievers each month. If you consistently reach 100% of your target, you’ll receive incentives such as all-expenses paid five star holidays, paid for lunch and drinks at luxury restaurants, plus monetary rewards. Targets are always reachable and dependant on your level, so you can work towards them from day one.

How can I go on the all expenses paid holidays?

IT Talent takes the highest achieving consultants away on all expenses paid holidays to luxury destinations that have included Barcelona, Davos, Las Vegas and Ibiza.

To be awarded with a ticket to these experiences, you’ll need to achieve 100% of your target in a month set by the manager. Your individual target will be set at the start of the month by your sales manager and you can keep track of your progress towards the goal.

What are the career development opportunities?

After joining us as a Trainee, you’ll be able to progress to Consultant and Senior Consultant purely based upon merit. If you’re good at your job, expect a promotion! All promotions will be at the director’s discretion.

If we think you’re up for it, you’ll have the opportunity to progress to Principal Consultant and then onto Management and Director positions. At this point, share options become available.

What is the training process?

If you don’t have experience in recruitment, don’t worry as our three month training course will teach you the tools of the trade. You’ll be learning from our senior consultants, business managers and directors, so you’ll be in experienced hands.

Taking a modular approach, we teach you different parts of the recruitment process over the three months, starting with the basics and finishing with advanced methods of closing deals. You’ll be partnered up with a senior who will listen in on your calls and give you pointers, teach you their methods, and give you a hand when you need it. What’s more, you’ll have the opportunity to earn commission by helping them with their deals.
